Partner Content Policy
Last updated: July 2026 · Version 2026-07-26
This policy covers everything a business publishes on Current: your profile, hours, photos, events, guides, subscriber messages, and promoted creative. It is part of the Partner Agreement and we update it as the product changes. If something here is unclear, ask us before you publish rather than after.
1. No Price Reductions
Current is not a coupon or deal platform. People come here to find out what is happening around them, not to hunt for discounts. Businesses that compete on price train customers to wait for the next markdown, and a feed full of percentages-off makes every listing on it worth less.
So: you may not publish price reductions anywhere on Current. That includes discounts, percentage or dollar amounts off, sale pricing, half-price and two-for-one offers, coupons, promo codes, and specific menu or drink prices presented as a deal. This applies to your profile, happy hour listings, event descriptions, subscriber messages, guides, and paid promoted creative alike.
You absolutely may reward your subscribers — just with more, not with less money. Add an item. Add access. Add an experience. Anything you would describe as “followers also get…” is fine. Anything you would describe as “followers pay less…” is not.
Ticket prices and cover charges stated as plain factual information (“$15 at the door”) are handled case by case — they are informational, not a discount. If we flag one of these, tell us and we will clear it.
2. Accuracy
- Hours, addresses, and contact details must be current. Stale hours are the fastest way to lose a customer and the most common complaint we get.
- Event dates, times, locations, and capacity must be correct. Update or cancel an event that changes rather than leaving it live.
- Photos must be of your actual business. No stock photography presented as your space, no competitor photos, no AI-generated images of a room that does not exist.
- You must honor anything you publish. If you tell subscribers there is a complimentary starter, there is a complimentary starter.
3. Follower Messages
Subscribers chose to hear from you. Treat that as the privilege it is.
- Message about your own business, events, and offerings — not about anyone else's.
- No all-caps urgency, manufactured scarcity, or engagement bait.
- No link shorteners. Link to real, working destinations.
- Do not export, sell, rent, or transfer subscriber information, and do not add subscribers to any outside mailing or SMS list.
- Stay within your monthly send allowance. It exists so subscribers keep opening your messages.
4. Prohibited Content
Do not publish any of the following, anywhere on Current:
- Illegal goods or services, or content promoting illegal activity
- Adult or sexually explicit content
- Harassment, hate speech, threats, or content targeting people based on protected characteristics
- Get-rich-quick offers, income or return guarantees, financial or investment solicitations, gambling, or cryptocurrency promotion
- Multi-level marketing recruitment
- Deceptive claims, bait-and-switch offers, or false urgency
- Content you do not have the rights to, including photos, logos, music, and copyrighted text
- Malware, phishing, link shorteners, or links to deceptive destinations
- Anyone else's trademarks or branding used in a way that suggests an affiliation you do not have
- Personal information about anyone who has not consented to it being published
5. Alcohol, Age-Restricted, and Regulated Offerings
If you serve alcohol or offer anything age-restricted, you are responsible for complying with every applicable law and license condition — including state rules on how alcohol may be advertised. Note that some jurisdictions restrict advertising drink pricing and drink promotions; our no-price-reduction rule does not substitute for your own legal compliance, and following our policy is not a defense to a licensing violation.
6. Claiming a Business
Claim only businesses you own or are authorized to manage. Do not claim a competitor, a business you no longer operate, or a location you do not control. Claiming a business without authority is grounds for immediate termination.
7. How We Enforce This
Nothing here is enforced by software that stops you from posting. You can always publish. We use automated checks only to flag things for a person to look at — a computer guessing at your intent is not a good enough reason to block a business from posting, and we would rather review a hundred false alarms than wrongly stop one legitimate listing.
When something does need addressing, depending on what happened and whether it has happened before, we may:
- Flag it for review and get in touch
- Ask you to edit it, or work through it with you
- Remove the specific content
- Send you a written warning
- Pause your subscriber messaging privileges
- Revoke a paid tier or feature
- Suspend or terminate the Partner Account
We do not have to work through these in order. A first offense that is clearly deliberate, or that puts users at risk, can go straight to termination. Consistent with the Partner Agreement, no refund is owed for any enforcement action.
If you think we got it wrong, email [email protected]. We read every appeal. We are a small team and we would much rather fix a listing with you than remove it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We update this policy as the product and our markets change. Material changes are announced in the partner portal. The version and date at the top of this page tell you which version is in effect.
