It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play
Hosted by Spokane Civic Theatre
Frank Capra's holiday standby gets retold as a 1940s radio broadcast: a small cast of actors crowds around vintage microphones and plays every role in Bedford Falls, with a foley artist knocking out snow crunch, door slams and jingling bells in real time. You watch the sound get made as much as you watch the story, and George Bailey's long night still lands the way it always does. It's a warm, low-tech kind of theater that works well for people who bring family along. Civic is a longtime community theater where locals fill the stage, the shop and the seats, and the seasons lean toward shows meant to be experienced together — plenty of laughing and sniffling in the same room.
